Banana Nice Cream (Print Version)

A creamy, dairy-free frozen dessert made with just frozen bananas. Ready in minutes for a healthy sweet treat.

# What You Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 4 ripe bananas

→ Optional Add-ins

02 - 1 tsp vanilla extract
03 - 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder or nut butter
04 - Pinch of cinnamon

# How-To Steps:

01 - Peel the bananas and slice them into 1/2-inch rounds. Arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
02 - Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or until the banana slices are completely solid.
03 - Transfer the frozen banana slices to a food processor or high-powered blender. Blend on high, scraping down the sides as needed, until the mixture reaches a smooth, soft-serve consistency, about 2 to 4 minutes.
04 - If desired, add vanilla extract, cocoa powder, or nut butter and blend briefly to incorporate evenly.
05 - Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture, or transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 1 hour for a firmer consistency. Scoop and enjoy.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It fools people into thinking you worked harder than you did, which is the best kind of recipe.
  • Four ingredients max, no dairy, no sugar, and it still tastes like a treat you would choose on purpose.
02 -
  • Do not skip the parchment paper because bare banana slices will glue themselves to the pan and you will be chipping them off with a spatula and your patience.
  • A blender works but a food processor is more forgiving and gives you better control over the texture, especially when scraping the sides.
03 -
  • Always peel the bananas before freezing because peeling a frozen banana is a battle you will not win without defrosting it first.
  • The riper the banana the sweeter and creamier the result, so embrace the ugly ones.
