01 - Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice using a knife or spatula.
02 - Place two bread slices buttered side down on a clean cutting board. Layer two cheese slices on each, then top with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
03 - Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
04 - Place assembled sandwiches in the hot pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until both sides are golden brown and cheese is completely melted.
05 - Remove sandwiches from heat and let rest for 1 minute to set. Cut in halves or quarters and serve immediately while hot.
